When the Hinckley company set out to create their first fully electric luxury yacht, they saved pounds by using composite material rather than the traditionally finished teak, which tends to be quite heavy.
They asked me if I could paint the material to look exactly like real teak, and I said yes!
It was truly an honor to be asked to do a project like this! It is my largest scale teak project to date!
All the brightwork on the entire boat is my hand-painted faux teak, which the Hinckley company terms: “Artisanal teak” In fact there is no actual wood on the whole boat! the decking is made from a different lightweight composite material.
These pictures will show you what I mean.
The actual pieces were painted off the boat, then multiple clear coats were applied before they were installed.
